An Eagle man has been sentenced to over four years in federal prison for defrauding a local business and the Internal Revenue Service. Miles J. Elletson, 55, was handed a 52-month sentence after pleading guilty to charges of wire fraud and filing false tax returns.
The charges stem from Elletson's actions while employed at Alloway Electric, a contracting company based in Garden City. According to court proceedings, Elletson orchestrated a scheme to embezzle funds from his employer. He then compounded his crimes by failing to report the illicit income on his federal tax returns, defrauding the IRS.
The United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Idaho announced the sentencing this week. In addition to the prison term, the court has ordered Elletson to pay restitution, ensuring he is held financially accountable for the losses inflicted on both the business and the government. The case highlights the serious consequences of financial crimes that target both private enterprises and public institutions.
