LIBERTY - A new faith-based residential care home for adults with disabilities opened its doors this week, marked by a day of prayer, celebration, and emotional tributes from community members and local leaders. The facility, which operates under a nonprofit model, aims to provide long-term housing and personalized support rooted in Christian values.
The opening ceremony featured a blessing of the building, hymns, and testimonies from families who have struggled to find suitable care options for their loved ones. Organizers emphasized that the home is designed to offer more than just medical assistance; it seeks to create a nurturing environment where residents can thrive spiritually and socially.
"We wanted a place where people are seen as whole individuals, not just their diagnosis," said one of the founders during the dedication. The home will employ trained caregivers who integrate faith-based practices into daily routines, including group prayer, worship services, and volunteer visits from local congregations.
Local officials praised the initiative for filling a critical gap in disability services. Many families in the region have faced long waiting lists for state-funded programs or costly private options. The new home plans to accept a mix of private pay and Medicaid waivers to keep services accessible.
The facility can accommodate up to 12 residents in a ranch-style building with accessible rooms, a communal kitchen, and a chapel. Staff members will provide 24-hour supervision, therapy coordination, and life skills training. Organizers hope to expand to additional locations if the initial model proves successful.
For now, the focus remains on the first residents moving in over the coming weeks. As one family member put it, "This is an answer to years of prayer."
