I take my kids out of school a few times each year to travel. Their teachers aren't always happy, but they learn so much from seeing the world. Traveling provides a unique opportunity for experiential learning that textbooks simply cannot offer. Exploring new cultures, languages, and environments allows children to develop a broader perspective on life and enhances their understanding of global diversity.
During our travels, my children engage with history and geography in a way that is far more impactful than any classroom lesson. Visiting ancient ruins or vibrant markets sparks their curiosity and encourages them to ask questions about the world around them. They learn to navigate new places, interact with different people, and adapt to unfamiliar situations, all of which are invaluable life skills.
While balancing school obligations is important, I believe that the educational benefits of travel far outweigh the drawbacks. Each trip enriches their learning experience, making them not just students of a curriculum but also students of the world.
