Baton Rouge brick company rebrands through Ascension acquisition

A Baton Rouge brick supplier that has been in business for over 75 years is starting fresh with a new name and a bigger footprint. Cocreham Brick has rebranded itself as The Brick Company and has completed the acquisition of Economy Brick, a supplier based in Gonzales. The deal pushes the company deeper into Ascension Parish and gives it a stronger hold on the building materials market in Louisiana.

The company said the rebrand reflects a broader strategy to modernize its image while keeping the same local roots. The acquisition of Economy Brick adds new inventory and customer accounts from the Gonzales area, which has seen steady growth in residential and commercial construction. Officials with The Brick Company said the move allows them to serve more contractors and homeowners across the region without the limitations of the old name.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The company plans to keep the Economy Brick location open and will operate it under the new brand. Employees from both businesses will stay on, according to a company statement. The shift marks one of the larger consolidation moves in the state's brick and masonry supply sector in recent years.
