Financial operations platform Ramp announced on Tuesday that it has started providing stablecoin accounts and payment capabilities to its business clients. The new service allows companies to hold, send, and receive payments using stablecoins directly through the platform.
The move marks a significant expansion for Ramp, which traditionally focused on helping businesses manage corporate cards and expense workflows. By adding stablecoin support, the company aims to give finance teams a faster and cheaper way to move money across borders or settle transactions without relying on traditional banking rails.
Stablecoins are digital currencies pegged to a stable asset, typically the U.S. dollar. They have gained traction among businesses looking to avoid the volatility of other cryptocurrencies while still benefiting from blockchain-based transfers. Ramp's offering lets clients maintain stablecoin balances in their accounts and use them to pay vendors or receive payments from partners.
The company said the feature is designed for companies that already operate in digital assets or want to streamline international payments. It also noted that the stablecoin accounts are integrated into Ramp's existing dashboard, so finance teams can manage both fiat and digital currency flows in one place.
Ramp did not disclose which specific stablecoins it supports or whether it holds reserves for the tokens. The announcement comes as more financial technology firms explore ways to bridge traditional finance with blockchain-based payments, though regulatory scrutiny around stablecoins remains high in several jurisdictions.
